- 1984 - Initiated the passing of the First Swimming Pool Fencing law in the world in Contra Costa County, California.
- 1996 - Supported passing of California Statewide Swimming Pool Safety Act AB 3305 (PDF).

- California Health and Safety Codes section 116026 - ALL public wading pools (water depth not exceeding 8 inch) should have been retrofitted with anti-entrapment filters as of 2000.
- California Health and Safety Code section 115928 (d)- effective January 1, 2007 - all "new" pools shall have anti-entrapment filters.
- 2006 - Supported passing of California Swimming Pool Renovation Bill to prevent Drownings and Suction Entrapment.
